The Kitchen
by Kaitlyne Colbert Story
The Kitchen is a play about found family, love, grief, and second chances. When Rosemary adopts her granddaughter, tensions boil between her and her daughter, Beth. Old resentments rise to the surface, and Rosemary grapples with what it means to be a mother at this point in her life. With the help of some neighbors, and some good food, she’ll make a home for Sophie, and a new life for herself.

What People are Saying About the Kitchen
“What came through onstage last night was so real. There will be several others in your audiences with similar emotions/memories unleashed, but those one-liners and heart warming scenes balanced it so well” -Mykel Myers (audience member at the 2023 workshop)
“Depressingly accurate. Hard but it did a good job mimicking dysfunction in families”- Marvin Cantrell (audience Member at the 2023 Workshop)
“Thank you, Kaitlyne Colbert for writing such a deep character for a young girl to play”-Felicia Cottrell (actor)
The Turn of the Screw
adapted for the stage by Kaitlyne Colbert Story
Based on the novella by Henry James
The Turn of the Screw is an adaptation of the gothic novella by Henry James. It follows a governess who becomes suspicious that there is an evil presence in the house where she is working and that the children in her care are in danger of corruption. In the tradition of James’ novella, I have crafted a narrative of ambiguity as to whether there are actually ghosts at Bly manor or the Governess is losing her grip on reality. Thrilling, and suspenseful, The Turn of the Screw provides a chilling commentary on isolation, mental health, morality and the violent nature of even the most innocent.
This Play is still in development. If you are interested in either or reading or fully realized production of Turn of the Screw please contact me. It is written to be performed by 7-9 actors.
